Just do it!

Just blog. Just write. Just get it out there. I did take care of “first things first”. I reviewed everything. OK, so the end got a little fuzzy, but I read it all. The whole blog. And I decided…I have something to say. Right now though, I admit that I have been quite absent from the blogging scene. But I want to be back. And maybe this post is back. Let’s see…….

Happy Halloween

Not much explanation needed here.  This little Belle was all over town…she made Boo at the Zoo, the library, truck or treat at the church and a small Halloween party at her BFF’s house.

there’s nothing like…

going to an absolutely beautiful wedding, seeing a dear friend get married and having a great time.  And I got to do just that.  Just when i thought that I may have aged out of weddings…then Carrie got married.  And it was just gorgeous.  Sadly, I have no pictures of the ceremony, it was outside on the Trent river bank, very simple but very elegant.  But, I did manage to get a few shots from the reception.

An

And I apologize for the poor picture quality.  This scenario happens to me alot.  I get in a lighting situation that I didn’t study for and then I am there, in the moment, trying to figure out which setting on my camera to use.  I really need a class or something.

And then there was cake.  To little P, I don’t think she fathomed how there was this big, beautiful cake in the room and NO ONE WAS EATING IT!  She asked me about it a million times and let me tell you, my answer which included the word “tradition” was totally lost on her.

I had mentioned this to Carrie, how much little P was sweating her cake.  So, after all the tradition of cake cutting/feeding/aunt reading of a sappy wedding poem…Carrie called for P and gave her the first slice herself.  That was probably my highlight of the night.

So, all in all, it was a great wedding.  I hope the bridal couple has a long and happy marriage.

Cheers!

Hello Love & Happy Birthday

37.  Let me say it again.  37.  My love, my one true love.  The one who I talked to out loud driving around one day in New Bern…I was asking out loud “where are you, I know you’re out there, now where are you?”.  Well, I found you.  And a whole lot more to life…marriage, South Carolina, “the woods”, a baby, new friends, new work.  The list goes on.  But, it’s all been great and all been well worth it.  I love you and Happy Birthday!

take me out to the ballgame…

Ok, ok, so no points on original blog titles here.

This is another installment on our Folly Beach vacation.

Mannel and I had talked about going to a baseball game this summer.  I have quite fond memories of seeing the Kinston Indians play summers when I was growing up, so I am game.  There is a team here in Cola, but just never made it and thought vacation would be the perfect time to acheive this goal.

So, the Chalreston Riverdogs were our team and this is probably sad, but I don’t remeber if they won.  I don’t think they did.  Really, I like baseball because of all the other stuff that goes on at these minor league games.  I think P did, too.  Between innings, they played “human bowling”, they had a race bewteen two hot dogs (on foot, around the diamond) and a jacked up, Chevy truck, painted in camo came out and shot t- shirts into the stands.  What could be more entertaining than this stuff?  Ok, maybe you can think of somethings that would be more entertaining but I’m sure you’d be lookin’ if you were there too.  Maybe even let out a little holla.

And, then before this party was over, and just as P’s attention span was waning, they had everyone stand up and sing “take me out to the ballgame”.  What a great time.

Nothing says summer like baseball.

Oh, and one more thing…watch out for foul balls.

What’s SUP?

We did it again.  We went to Folly for the week and stayed in a house called Sea-Duction managed by Avocet Properties.  The house has obviously not been seaducing the owners for sometime now as it needed some maintenance.  But nevertheless, we had a great time and spent alot fo time doing things instead of hanging around the house anyway.  I am happy to report that i made a personal goal of mine come true on this trip.  I’ll start with that.  For a few years now, two to be exact, I have been wanting to SUP.  What’s SUP, might you ask?  Maybe you already know.  I read recently that it is a the hottest watersport out there and that everybody’s doing it.  Well, whatever.  Two years ago we were at Hatteras for a vacation and these two guys came by on a particularly flat evening at the beach on paddleboards.  I thought, wow, I could do that.  And then about a year or so ago, we were sitting the turbines at Lake Murray, just at the foot of the dam and a couple of gals came by on paddleboards.  Wow, I want to do that.  So flash forward to this year and earlier this summer I put on a bikini and thought “oh no, how did this happen?”.  This meaning flab, cellulite and some really yucky looking thighs.  So, I begged and pleaded that Pilates would be the thing to get this flab outta sight.  And it was and not only did it do that, my core is now really strong.  So strong that when I finally got my chance to SUP, the only thing that held me back (not for long though) was mental.  I had to have a talk with myself that if I SUPped on over to this sandbar on Sullivan’s Island Station 30 – I would be so proud of myself.  And guess what?  I was! And here is the proof.
